Training Camp Korea Pt.2

So I was in Korea on a 18 day training camp.

It was the longest training camp I've ever been on and probably the hardest. During the 18 days we had many games and double trainings almost everyday. Plus not to mention in the heat and humidity like an asian summer.

1 of the best things about the camp was the fact that I was with my new teammates everyday, 3 meals a day etc etc... It let me get to know them faster than everyone having their own lives in Hong Kong it was a lot easier to talk and socialize.

But technically 1 of the best things about the camp was the number of times we had Korean BBQ. Its super awesome!! I dont quite know how to explain it to those who have never tried it but i guess its something like cooking thin strips of meat on a burner, in the middle of your table with 3 other people or so...? And then you dip the meat into sauce and eat with rice or lettuce or kimchi (spiiicy). Kinda hard to explain but it is very good and I usuggest it to any true meat lover.

Maybe the photo helps?

Here are a few pictures from games and training.

more run forest run...

reminds me of my rugby days....

One of the most important factors of a training camp is to push your body as hard as possible without getting injured. Thats where physios, ice baths, tape, all become big players in holding me in 1 piece. Somehow I survived and now feel in better shape then I have in a long time and looking forward to the season ahead.

me ruining a photo of ben... but much thanks to him i survived!
Also it was my birthday in Korea, although many people joke I'm around 25 I actually turned 22... So some of the guys on the team were awsome and got me cake... but most of the cake met my face.. not my mouth... but a good laugh and touching as i knew them less then 2 weeks.
cake faced... 4 times... 1 person each... i guess they found it funny...??

I think I will stop there.

First Day off in HK

So after 18 days in South Korea I'm back in Hong Kong. I will blog about the Korea Experience soon but for now I just got back after 18 days without a single full day of rest.

So what to do once getting a little bit of freedom? Decided to find a book store... Which in the 21st century is much harder than you would expect. With most people buying books online or downloading them to their ipads or kindle's it took a while to find one.

Now there were many "Learn Cantonese" books so it was hard choosing which one would be best. So even though society tells us not to "Judge a book by its cover". Which is funny because book stores seal there books so you can only judge a book by the cover... mixed messages...!! Who knew book stores are so judgemental....

With judging by the covers this book stood out as it had,
"Will you marry me?"
"Join the queue!"
"I love you"
All listed above, "My name is..." Which embarrassing enough almost made me LOL in a almost silent book store.

So far my favorite part of the book is the section, "Local sayings"... Now i don't know if they are true as books lie...
It's a piece of cake.  Yart bowl, dung teen. Literally means: One step to heaven.
Killing 2 birds with 1 stone. Yart zeen, serng dee-oo. Literally means: 1 arrow, 2 birds.
Win, Win situation. Choy sick, geem sow. Literally means: You have money and sex.

I think I will stop there.

So the learning a 4th language continues..... Wish me luck.

Training Camp in Korea

Currently I'm in Busan Korea on training camp. So i wont be able to blogging much for the next 2 weeks. The connection out here isn't ideal but o well. Not much can be done about that. So thats why i haven't blogged for the last week.
Here are some pics from training camp so far.

Korean BBQ in Korea

The team are great, a lot of fun. Its very helpful that most of the players speak english and Im learning their names. My cantonese is improving considering i was starting at level 0... but now I know how to say some rude words so I'm on the right track. Naturally they told me that the F word ment good morning and thought I was that stoopid but can't say thats the first time thats happened.

Also apparently my name, Nakajima, in chinese reading is Chang dou... means the same thing just said differently. So everyone has a chinese name. Bit of a identity crisis but interesting none the less.

Quick thanks to all 4000 viewers in my first month. I will try and keep it interesting. No promise's though, it might get boring.

Thats all for now,

South China Athletic Association

South China Athleic Association is the name of my new club. SCAA as they say. SCAA have the most honors out of the Hong Kong teams so are one of the most well known teams in the area. They finished second in the league last year after winning it for the past 4 years.

Very different to any other club I have ever played or visited SCAA have a giant 13 floor sports complex, and a smaller 6 floor building next to it. Has everything from badminton, basketball, fencing, indoor shooting range, billiards. Its pretty cool having all of this in 1 building and the teams changing rooms are on the 13th floor / roof of this building.

Once arriving at the club I received my new training gear and found out I'm No.3 this season. This is my locker after day 1... Still have to decorate it with pictures of family and friends and get some coat hangers etc etc but this is it so far.

Also was my first run out in Hong Kong, was a little jetlagged and had to adjust to the humidity but sounds like a fun challenge to get used to. They told me yesterday was a cool day at 33degrees.... I thought it was a Hong Kong style joke but apparently it was a cool day... haha!!

Give me a football and i can entertain myself. Thanks to the photos from Ip SoSo.

Thats all for now,

Well people I just arrived in Hong Kong today so from now on I will be blogging from Hong Kong. I don't know why but saying Hong Kong has a nice sound to it so I keep repeating Hong Kong. Anyway. Will have more updates soon...from Hong Kong.

Cheek kissin'

A little off topic but just a warning for those traveling, I've been to many different places and currently I'm in Spain. One of the first things that shocked me was the simple act of saying "Hi","Hello", "ola"...

In Spain you kiss each other twice on the cheek even if its the first time to meet someone aka a stranger. Male and female it is customary and between males it is acceptable as well. Normal or weird...?? Not saying its good or bad I mean you could get lucky or very unlucky depending on the stranger, when they last showered... etc etc... Another thing is that in Spain its unspoken fact that u always go for the right cheek, so your left. Again, no idea why.

For Japanese I think this is very different. In Japan even a handshake between men is rare. Its more of a greeting from a distance. Almost no contact and at most an awkward hug/ shoulder tap.

In most of Europe it is a hand shake between men and a hand shake between strangers. In my experience.

South America many countries do a cheek kiss going from 1 -3... I'm not sure what it depends on. Probably when that person last showered or how hairy the man's cheeks are.

So as a travel tip not to get caught out, look into greetings as no one likes a awkward hello or goodbye.

My awkward story is I knew this family was a kiss-greeting family so i was ready for 1 and 2... but then the third one came ... me and the mother where kinda eye to eye in way to close range for my comfort ... it was very very awkward.
And someone once lied to Issey saying that in Hawaii they do 5 kisses and he didn't know so i think he went around the island 5 kissing everyone.... No comment on his IQ.

Well thats all for now.

Crazy work out めちゃーキツイ

Went today on a 96km ride with my dad and Manuel at Tactic bikes and worked up a sweat in the Spanish Summer. After almost 4 hours of riding, burning 2600kcal and lost 2.7kgs it was the end of a epic work out.

The view... マジbeautiful...

Man made this for his Girlfriend and she died as he completed it.
Top Speed was 63 km/hr ... That was not on 8 km up hill grind.

2644kcal

3’55”mins. 3

Not much else to say apart from cycling in the heart of Spanish Cava districts is awesome and gorgeous. Want to learn more about wine and its different grapes and how its made etc etc... So many different variations gotta explore more wine in the future.
